The short version
Send the brand and model, the build month and year, which side, and a photo of the mirror from outside and from the inside of the door. Tell us what the mirror does: folding, heated, camera or a blind-spot light. Say whether you need the whole mirror, the glass or only the cover.
1. Say left or right
Left and right are as seen from the driver's seat, not from outside the car. If you are not sure, a photo of the whole side of the car shows which mirror is damaged.
2. Whole mirror, glass or cover?
A side mirror is made of the housing and motor, the mirror glass and the outer cover. Tell us which part is broken. If the cover is cracked but the glass and motor work, a cover alone may be enough, but we confirm what is available before we reply.
3. List what the mirror does
Modern mirrors can fold electrically, heat the glass, carry a turn signal or a blind-spot light, hold a camera or lower when you reverse. Mirrors for the same model can come with different features, so tell us which of these yours has.
4. Take two photos
Take one photo from outside the car showing the whole mirror, and one from inside the car looking at the door panel and the mirror controls. If the mirror is already off, add a photo of the back, where any markings or numbers are.
5. Give the car details
Brand, model and the build month and year from your car documents. Say if the car has been repaired, repainted or fitted with a different mirror before, and whether the cover needs a colour match.
