The short version
An OE number is the car maker's own reference number for a part. It helps match the exact part, but you do not need it to ask us. If you cannot find it, send the car model, build month and year, and photos instead.
What does OE mean?
OE stands for original equipment. The OE number is the reference the car maker gives a part, and many other sellers list the same number so a buyer can compare. It is a reference for matching, not a promise about where a part comes from.
Where can I find the number?
On a lamp, mirror or bumper bracket, look at the back of the part or on a label or moulded marking. On a part that is still on the car, it is often hidden, so you may need to see it once the part is removed. A workshop or the car's parts documents may also list it.
What if the number is worn or missing?
That is common. Numbers can fade, be painted over or be on a part that is already thrown away. Send photos of the part and the area around it, and the car's model, build month and year. We can still check fitment from those.
Is the OE number enough to confirm a fit?
Not on its own. The same model can come in different versions, and a part number does not tell us about your trim, sensors or market. We compare the number with your build date, trim and photos before we quote.
What should I send us?
The brand and model, build month and year, the part and the side, the OE number if you have it, and a photo of the old part or the damage.
What happens next?
We check what we can source and confirm fitment before we reply. You can also search the catalogue by car and part, and tap Get a quote.
FAQ
What does OE mean on a car part?
OE stands for original equipment. The OE number is the car maker's own reference number for a part, and other sellers often list the same number so you can compare.
Do I need an OE number to get a quote?
No. The number helps, but you can send the car model, build month and year, the part and photos instead. We check fitment from those before we quote.
Where is the OE number on a lamp or bumper?
Usually on the back of the part, on a label or as a moulded marking. On a part still fitted to the car it may be hidden, so it is often easier to read once the part is removed.
Is the OE number enough to confirm that a part fits?
Not on its own. We also compare your build date, trim and photos, because the same model can come in different versions.
